Step-by-Step Installation
1. Prep the Crossmember
-
Locate the front crossmember under the vehicle.
-
Remove any brake lines or wires clipped into plastic tabs.
2. Position & Drill
-
Hold the WTD frame mount bracket in place along the contour of the crossmember.
-
Mark and drill the first hole using a 3/8″ drill bit.
3. Secure the Bracket
-
Attach the bracket with the provided 3/8″ hardware:
Bolt → Washer → Bracket → Washer → Lock Washer → Nut -
Drill and install the remaining three bolts to fully secure the bracket.
4. Install the Tie Rod Tab
-
Place U-bolts under the tie rod.
-
The tab should sit on top of the tie rod.
-
Note: For E-450 RV models, grind a flat spot on the tie rod for a proper fit.
5. Mount the Shock
-
Align the bracket with the pitman arm angle.
-
Use 1/2″ hardware to mount the shock to the frame bracket.
-
Use the remaining hardware to connect the other end to the tie rod tab.
You may need to compress the shock or turn the steering wheel to fit it.
Stock setups: Mount the shock facing forward on the tie rod tab.
6. Final Adjustments
-
Turn the steering wheel to ensure the shock doesn’t overextend or bottom out.
-
Drill a hole in the fan shroud using a 1/4″ bit to zip-tie the radiator hose out of the way.
Final Check
✅ Make sure all hardware is torqued properly.
✅ Ensure the shock moves freely without hitting the frame or steering components.
✅ Test steering movement lock-to-lock.
